Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

As a result of aging, pregnancy, and other causes, the breasts begin to sag. To lift the breasts and restore firmness, patients may consider a breast lift. Patients in the St. Augustine, Jacksonville, Palm Coast, and Daytona Beach areas can trust Dr. Anh Vu for exceptional care and effective breast surgeries.

What is a Breast Lift?

A breast lift, also called a mastopexy, is a cosmetic surgery that can lift the breasts and restore their firmness. If the nipples have moved or stretched, this technique can also restore them to their original position and size. Many patients find that a breast lift gives their breasts a more youthful appearance and improves the shape of the breasts.

How is a Breast Lift Performed?

At Anh Vu, M.D., every breast lift begins with an in-depth consultation with Dr. Anh Vu. During this consultation, Dr. Vu carefully plans out the surgery based upon the patient’s aesthetic goals. Because breast surgery can create long-term, life-changing results, he spends substantial time discussing the procedure with each patient to ensure they achieve the results they want. Dr. Vu is incredibly meticulous during surgery, which involves precise incisions made underneath the breast, around the areola, or both. The desired amount of lift determines incision placement, which varies by patient. Next, the surgeon removes excess skin and reshapes the breast tissue to match the patient’s aesthetic goals. All breast surgeries are performed under anesthesia so that patients remain comfortable throughout treatment.

What Can I Expect After My Breast Lift?

After a breast lift, patients can expect swelling along with minor bruising or discomfort that persists for several weeks after surgery. We recommend that patients avoid exercise and other strenuous activities for at least two weeks after surgery, but they can return to work as early as one week later. Patients should get as much rest as possible during this time and sleep on their backs. Following your procedure, Dr. Vu will review instructions for specific post-surgery care and discuss the timing of any follow-up appointments.

How Long Do the Results from a Breast Lift Last?

When performed by an experienced, qualified surgeon like Dr. Anh Vu, the results of a breast lift can last for years and look completely natural. However, a breast lift cannot prevent further changes in the breasts, so we recommend that patients wait to have a breast lift if they plan on getting pregnant in the future.
