How is Liposuction Performed?
At Anh Vu, M.D., every liposuction begins with an in-depth consultation with Dr. Anh Vu. During this consultation, Dr. Vu carefully plans out the surgery based upon the patient’s aesthetic goals. Body sculpting procedures can create long-term, life-changing results, so he spends substantial time discussing the procedure with the patient to ensure they achieve the results they want. Dr. Vu is incredibly meticulous during surgery, which is made easier by the advanced liposuction technology we have available. Vaser® LipoSelection uses ultrasound waves to break up targeted fat while leaving surrounding tissue unharmed. Micro-Aire PAL® is a form of power-assisted liposuction that makes the procedure faster, more effective, and more comfortable. With both technologies, the surgeon makes small, inconspicuous incisions through which they extract fat from the body. All lipo procedures are performed under anesthesia so that patients remain comfortable throughout treatment.
What Can I Expect After My Liposuction?
After a Vaser® LipoSelection treatment, you need only a short recovery period. Patients should avoid strenuous activity for about two weeks, but they can typically return to work and other normal activities within a few days after treatment. After liposuction with Micro-Aire PAL®, patients usually experience mild bruising and swelling for two to three weeks. Some patients can return to work within a few days, although recovery may take longer depending on the extent of surgery. Patients can expect to resume their normal activities approximately two to four weeks after treatment. Following your procedure, Dr. Vu will review instructions for specific post-surgery care and discuss the timing of any follow-up appointments.
How Long Do the Results from Liposuction Last?
When performed by an experienced, qualified surgeon like Dr. Anh Vu, liposuction results can last for years and look completely natural. However, these procedures do not prevent further changes that may occur due to weight gain.
